Organisation
The Port Administration, which is headed by the Port Director, is responsible for the day-to-day operations. The Port of Bodø’s highest authority is the Bodø City Council, followed by the Port Board.
The Port of Bodø is a municipal enterprise wholly owned by the Municipality of Bodø. The Port of Bodø’s highest authority is the Bodø City Council, while the Port of Bodø is managed by the Port Board. The Port Administration, which is headed by the Port Director, is responsible for the day-to-day operations. The Port of Bodø has 14 permanent employees. The enterprise’s organisation comprises of the following sections:
Operations Section
The Operations Section comprises of the Port Control and the Maintenance Section. The Port Control is responsible for the maritime operation of the port in terms of handling of ship traffic, mooring services, use of the quay area, freshwater and shore power supplies, enforcement of the ISPS regulations and management pursuant to the provisions of the Harbour Act. Matters related to pleasure craft also fall to this section. The Port Control invoices fairway dues, quay dues and for ship-related services. The Port Control is staffed around the clock, with after-hours services provided by an external security company.
The Maintenance Section is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the port’s logistics areas, quays, floating installations and other infrastructure and buildings. Moreover, the department is responsible for any rehabilitation of buildings, development of new quays, maintenance of equipment and caretaker services. The section also carries out planning, evaluations and analyses.
Finance and Administration Section
The Finance and Administration Section is the staff function in the Port of Bodø and is responsible for finances, accounting, payroll services, ICT, human resources, organisational development and HSE. Accounting and payroll runs are handled by the Municipality of Bodø.
Market and Development Section
The Market and Development Section is responsible for the development work at the Port of Bodø. Development work is often interdisciplinary and is often organised in projects involving collaboration with other sections and/or external enterprises. The market activities at the Port of Bodø are closely with development, property and operations, but the coordination of this falls to this section. The section is also responsible for marketing, communication and information, including media liaison and responding to relevant hearings that affect the port.
Property Section
The Property Section is responsible for all tenancy contracts, construction projects and project monitoring. The section also has the overall responsibility for public procurement.
